Pop Quiz: Creating a Secure Windows 7 Mobile Device Image

Applies to the "Supporting Mobile Users" objective of Exam 70-685: Windows 7, Enterprise Desktop Support Technician.

Q: A company's desktop image engineering team needs to create a Windows 7 mobile device image that will be used to connect using a secure wireless network. Which configuration should the engineering team include?

  1. Network Bridge
  2. Alternate IP Address Configuration
  3. WLAN AutoConfig
  4. Wi-Fi Protected Access II

Answer and explanation is below.

Answer is C: WLAN AutoConfig is available in all modern versions of Microsoft Windows. Configuring the service to start automatically causes it to dynamically select which wireless network the computer automatically connects to, and configures the necessary settings on the wireless network adapter.

Quick Tip: If you install the Feature Wireless LAN Service on Windows Server 2008 or 2012 computers, you can connect using Wi-Fi.
