Flawed SQL Server 2012 SP2 ISOs Fixed
Microsoft has corrected an issue with the TechNet and MSDN subscribers' download of SQL Server 2012 Service Pack 2.
The issue concerned those subscribers who had tried to install slipstream ISO versions of SP2 that Microsoft had made available from July 1 to July 9. Those ISO releases would install SQL Server 2012, but they would omit the service pack, thus defeating the purpose of using a slipstream ISO.
Microsoft noted the problem earlier this month, promising a fix. On Friday, Microsoft delivered patched ISO versions, dated July 18, for its TechNet and MSDN subscribers.
Microsoft's announcement regarding the fixed ISOs pointed to this Knowledge Base article, which offers a couple of approaches for TechNet or MSDN subscribers who may have installed the flawed versions.
The slipstream ISO problem had just affected Microsoft's TechNet and MSDN subscribers. Microsoft also had posted slipstream ISOs of SP2 to the Microsoft Download Center, but those distributions never had the flaw.
