Google Senses Fear with Apple, Microsoft

If I get what this blogger is saying, Google truly has a "Windows killer" in its forthcoming OS. But maybe Apple should be shaking at its, uh, core, especially as the Chrome OS looks to be more friendly to more devices and form factors. Too early for me to tell, but maybe MCPmag.com readers have been checking out the competition. Let us know what you think, if that's the case.

Of course, this calls for a poll: Does Microsoft or Apple have anything to worry about with the Google Chrome OS?

Basing an entire OS on the premise of Internet based applications is a poor use of budget, especially after failing to gain a big %age of market share with AndroidOS (http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/09/11/03/canalys_q3_2009_iphone_rim_taking_over_smartphone_market.html). Try "research". Calling it a Windows killer is also not very accurate. Good luck running AutoCAD, any FEA, or real work based application (or any first person shooter) on the internet.

After previewing the Google OS it's more like Chrome than a true OS focusing on cloud computing and (of course) Google's services. At this time it won't support enough computing services to be a threat. I hope it pressures both Apple and Microsoft to be more aggressive in implementing newer technologies and standards quicker rather than milking the market to death.

In all reality, Chrome more than likely be in the category of "another Linux distro". So it finds its way to become a choice of OS on netbooks, it still has to compete with Windows and other Linux distros.
