Microsoft Provides an MMC Reference
Poorly organized but essential anyhow.
With the release of Internet Information Services version 4 we saw the
advent of the Microsoft Management Console, a tool designed to simplify
network and computer systems administration. Administrators saw the advantages
of this right away but it was tough for developers to figure out how to
best take advantage of this new tool. This book is designed to help Visual
C++ and Visual Basic 6 developers take full advantage of the MMC framework
and start developing powerful MMC console applications quickly.

Pros: Plenty of well-documented source
code samples.
Cons: Poorly organized.
Verdict: Excellent reference material for MMC developers.

The first three parts of the book (chapters 1-16) are full of redundant
information, little of which contains technical depth. Don't skip them
entirely, but spend most of your time in the either the C++ or Visual
Basic chapters where there is a wealth of information on design and development,
complete with well-documented source code and samples. The CD contains
a complete electronic copy of the book as well as the MMC and Accessibility
SDKs.
Overall, this book is a valuable reference tool that you need to have
if you are serious about developing for the Microsoft Management Console,
despite its failings.
