Before there were personal computers there were firewalls protecting vital data transmissions and keeping malicious attackers out. When everyone was connected to the network in the office behind the firewall, it was simple enough for a hardware firewall to perform all the inspection and filtering required to protect the data, the network, and the users.
Today, everything is everywhere. Users may be in the office, or working from home, or an airport, a hotel, a conference center or literally anywhere. Servers, once located in the on-premises data center are now located in cloud data centers, usually several cloud data centers. Clearly, there’s no logical place to physically locate a hardware firewall that will keep everything, and everyone separate. Imagine deploying hardware firewalls all over your networks.
The answer is the cloud firewall, or virtual firewall. Cloud-deployed, these software-based solutions filter traffic moving between anywhere… and anywhere else, securing all data ingress, egress, and east-west traffic. Centrally managed, cloud firewalls provide highly controlled, scalable, cost-effective security.
Join Senior Resultant Howard M. Cohen and experts from Zscaler as they discuss the challenges of data and network security in a hybrid and multi-cloud environment, and why cloud firewalls are the ideal solution.
