Microsoft Office Beta 2010 Expires on Halloween

Microsoft announced it will be ending the beta version of its Microsoft Office 2010 Suite on Oct. 31.

According to The Microsoft Office Blog, the beta has been downloaded over 9 million time since its availability on Nov. 16, 2009. The count was more than six times the amount of downloads the Office 2007 beta received.

The commercial version hit shelves on June 15 of this year, via download and retail copy. When moving to the official version, the beta must be completely uninstalled before installing.

While the beta may be coming to a close, a 60-day trial version can also be downloaded here for those still on the fence.

I down loaded and tried the Beta Version of Office 10. I don't think it is worth the money to upgrade from Office 3 or 7. I am very unhappy with Microsoft's handling of this Beta test. Since I choose not to upgrade I was told that all I had to do was install my old system. I have and it has totally screwed up my machine. It took a couple weeks of screwing around to even get the old system to work (Office 7). But now everything is screwed up from my original setup. Outlook contacts were lost and refiled. Outlook keeps locking up. Saved Documents are not compatible. It is a total mess. I think a CHEEP-SHOT way of marketing by Microsoft.
