Microsoft VP Brooks Leaving for Juniper Networks

Brad Brooks, a Microsoft executive who helped promote Windows 7 to consumers, has signed up for a new marketing role at Juniper Networks.

Brooks serves as Microsoft's corporate vice president for Windows consumer marketing and product management. His new position at Juniper Networks will be vice president of worldwide enterprise marketing and solutions, according to an announcement released on Wednesday by Juniper Networks. A spokesperson for Juniper Networks clarified that Brooks is still at Microsoft until Feb. 4, and will join Juniper Networks in mid-February.

At Microsoft, Brooks was involved with Microsoft's "Life Without Walls" promotional campaign for Windows 7 aimed at consumers. Microsoft launched Windows 7 in Oct. 2009 and saw a jump in revenues largely based on consumer spending. For instance, a revenue spike reported in Microsoft's fiscal quarter ending on Dec. 31, 2009 was ascribed by the company mostly to consumer demand for Windows 7-based PCs.

Brooks had earlier served as general manager of product marketing for the Windows Business Group where he was involved with marketing Windows Vista. He first joined Microsoft in 2002, promoting Windows XP Media Center edition. Before joining Microsoft, Brooks had worked at "marketing and sales roles with Enron, Lucent Technologies, and AT&T," according to his Microsoft bio. He also once served as "an intelligence analyst for the U.S. government," according to the Juniper Networks announcement.

At Juniper Networks, Brooks will stay on the enterprise side, marketing products for "Juniper's vertical and horizontal solutions," according to the announcement. Sunnyvale, Calif.-based Juniper Networks is a provider of networking infrastructure, providing equipment to enterprises, public sector organizations and service providers.
