Axent Rolls Out New Firewall

Axent Technologies Inc. has introduced Raptor Firewall 6.5, a firewall solution that inspects and filters most Internet applications and protocols.

Raptor Firewall 6.5 uses Generic Service Passers (GSPs) which extend the firewall's capability to scan for proprietary applications like Bloomberg and Reuters terminal data and emerging Internet protocols such as CORBA and X-Windows. New features to Raptor Firewall 6.5 include lightweight directory access protocol (LDAP) support, which allows the authentication components to access centralized user repositories; out-of-band authentication, which maintains security for applications or protocols which do not follow standard security techniques; and installation and management wizards for faster deployment.

Raptor Firewall 6.5 is integrated with other solutions, including IPSec virtual private networking (VPN) technology, International Computer Security Association (ICSA) certification, a Microsoft Management Console (MMC) interface, Entrust-Ready public key infrastructure (PKI) encryption support, and integration with other Axent authentication and e-security solutions.
