Sterling Software Inc. has released Cool:Joe 1.0, a new development tool based on Enterprise JavaBeans (EJBs) technology for the development of distributed e-business applications. Cool:Joe offers support for the Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition (J2EE) as well.
Cool:Joe is the latest addition to the Cool product line. It includes several new features. Integrated component modeling and management lets Cool:Joe combine component modeling and management for an architecture design environment integrated with a Java development environment. The architecture, model, resulting components, and their implementations as EJB components are all contained within a single tool. Cool:Joe uses wizards to automate much of the EJB development effort. The software provides a UML 1.3 class diagram for modeling structures as well as smart options, such as smart expansions, smart macros, and smart methods, which share the development process across the development team. Additionally, the Cool:Joe editor lets the developer create and edit business logic in Java, as well as edit the related files including HTML, Java Server Pages, and text files.
