Exabyte Corp. has begun shipping its M2 automated tape library line. The M2 line consists of the EZ17 autoloader, X80 library, and X200 library. The M2 libraries combine M2's half-high form factor and high transfer rate with Exabyte's automation expertise.
The EZ17 autoloader offers seven-day, unattended backup capability with 108 GB/hour (43.2 GB/hour uncompressed) transfer rate. The Exabyte 220 automated library is a multi-drive midrange tape library that offers 3 TB (1.2 TB uncompressed) capacity and 216 GB/hour (86.4 GB/hour uncompressed) transfer rate. The Exabyte SAN-ready X80 automated library offers 12 TB (4.8 TB uncompressed) capacity and 864 GB/hour (345.6 GB/hour uncompressed) transfer rate. The Exabyte SAN-ready X200 automated library offers 30 TB (12 TB uncompressed) of capacity and 1 TB/hour (400 GB/hour uncompressed).
The X80 and X200 M2 libraries come with Web-enabled, Java-based out-of-band management capabilities. These features, along with Fibre Channel options, enable the SAN-ready tape libraries to work with independent software vendor (ISV) applications for providing remote manageability in a network-attached environment for storage area networks (SAN) and network attached storage (NAS) architectures.
