Microsoft Courses Now Available Online
Microsoft makes seven titles targeting Windows 2003 training
available via on-demand service.
The Microsoft Learning Group has recently made several Windows 2003 training courses available online in what appears to be an on-demand style service. The seven courses have been typically available only via instructor-led courses, often delivered at CTECs or IT Skills Academy partners. The courses target IT professionals who often find it difficult to attend training for long periods, which means long absences from work. But price might be another attractive feature.
At $199, "it's a bargain," says Carey Dodson, an IT manager at the Center for Manufacturing Technology Excellence at East Mississippi Community College. Dodson prefers the dynamics of an instructor-led classroom environment, but says the prices are compelling enough that he plans to explore the new course offerings further for his own training later this year.
Microsoft currently offers the following courses:
- 2208: Updating Support Skills from Windows NT 4.0 to Windows Server 2003
- 2274: Managing Windows Server 2003 Environment
- 2275: Maintaining a Windows Server 2003 Environment
- 2276: Implementing a Windows Server 2003 Network Infrastructure: Network Hosts
- 2278: Planning and Maintaining a Windows Server 2003 Network Infrastructure
- 2279: Planning, Implementing, and Maintaining a Windows Server 2003 Active Directory Infrastructure
Courses are $199 for a 90-day subscription. As of this writing, Microsoft representatives weren't available for comment on whether other courses would be offered. For details go to https://www.microsoftelearning.com/.
