IT Weekly Roundup, Jan. 21

From the business wires this week: a solution to launch applications remotely but securely, a remote PC management suite, and more.

Tarantella’s Secure Global Desktop Enterprise Edition (EE) 4 solution features enhancements in enterprise integration, security and ease of use. The secure application access software’s Web services APIs can be integrated with portals and Web applications, as you can launch applications via URLs. EE4 also has improved infrastructure security, including support for the AES encryption algorithm, and provides client drive mapping for additional clients with support for Microsoft Windows, Linux, Solaris and Macintosh platforms. http://www.tarantella.com

Two new services have been added to the on-demand PC management suite Everdream Control Center from Everdream Corporation. Administrators can now secure and access remote PCs on their network with RemoteAssist, while Network Scanning enables IT staff to scan the network for all devices connected to it. http://www.everdream.com
