From the business wires this week: a change auditing solution for Active Directory, an embedded SQL database engine and a simple file sharing program.

Tripwire Inc. released Tripwire Enterprise 5.2, a change auditing solution for Microsoft Active Directory and Sun One Directory Server. New features include Change Window and User Role reports, which provide information on changes made in and outside change windows as well as which users have access to what within Tripwire Enterprise, respectively; HP OpenView Service Desk integration; Oracle 10g support; and expanded support to audit Solaris 10 x86 and Solaris 10/SPARC file systems. http://www.tripwire.com

Brocade Communications Systems announced Tuesday that its 4Gbit SilkWorm 4100 and 200E product families have been approved and designated by Microsoft's Simple SAN for Windows Server requirements. Microsoft designed the Simple SAN for Windows Server Program to address the small and medium-sized business demand for robust, serviceable and easy-to-deploy SAN solutions. The new 4Gbit/sec SilkWorm platforms provide eight to 16 ports on demand (SilkWorm 200E) and 16 to 32 ports on demand (SilkWorm 4100) of enterprise-class connectivity with ease-of-use features designed to reduce complexity and lower operating costs. http://www.brocade.com

VistaDB Server
VistaDB Server supports additional BDE-related databases including Paradox, dBASE 7 and InterBase (FireBird).

Vista Software released the latest version of its VistaDB Server, an embedded SQL database engine for building small to midsize WinForms and ASP.NET database applications. Version 2.1 provides client/server support in a 500KB footprint. http://www.vistadb.net

Quantum Corp. announced a new product line of disk-based backup and recovery appliances for small- to medium-sized enterprises. The DX3000 and DX5000 appliances are based on a high-density, 2U or 5U (rack-unit) chassis and have a RAID 5-based capacity range of 1.2TB to over 14.4TB of compressed usable capacity per unit. As with the company's existing DX-Series enterprise systems, the DX3000 and DX5000 integrates with any open-systems tape automation system to allow data migration and archive. In addition, these new appliances are compatible with popular backup packages, including CA ArcServe, CommVault Galaxy, EMC Legato Networker, HP OpenView Data Protector, and Veritas Backup Exec and Net Backup. http://www.quantum.com

VistaDB Server
Transfer files in relative ease with Lava Software's PC-Mac-Net FileShare v5.1.

Lava Software began shipping PC-Mac-Net FileShare v5.1, a file sharing, workgroup collaboration synchronization product which operates over LANs and the Internet. In the new version, files and folders can be dragged between file lists to initiate transfers and file transfer speeds over the Internet have been improved.
