Cisco Buys SightPath

Cisco Systems Inc. has announced that it will purchase SightPath, a content delivery company.
Cisco (www.cisco.com), which briefly surpassed Microsoft Corp. (www.microsoft.com) as the world’s most valuable company, has lately been snapping up smaller Internet related companies. Their purchase of SightPath (www.sightpath.com) is only the latest in a spree that has included Compatible Systems, Growth Networks, JetCell, InfoGear, Aironet, and Atlantech this month.
The transaction is valued at about $800 million. Cisco will exchange stock for the outstanding shares of SightPath. Cisco hopes to complete the deal by the end of the fourth quarter. - Christopher McConnell
