Microsoft Announces Service Pack for Visual Studio 6.0

Little over a month has passed since Microsoft Corp. released Visual Studio 6.0, and the company has already announced the first service pack for the development suite.

The service pack will address "specific binary compatibility conflicts between run-time redistributable files in prior versions" of Visual Studio. More information is available at http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/sp/.

The service pack will be available free via a web download or web order form. Customers of Visual Studio Enterprise Edition and MSDN Universal and Professional subscribers will automatically receive the service pack when it is released later this month. --Michele Rosen, Staff Reporter, New York Correspondent
