Compaq, Entrust Announce Marketing Agreement

Security provider Entrust Technologies Inc. (www.entrust.com) announced the signing of an agreement with Compaq Computer Corp. today that aims to provide each organization's customers with best-of-breed PKI training and security solutions. The products and services offered through the relationship will are designed to make it easier for organizations to implement and maintain secure communications and transactions with partners, employees and clients.

Under the new agreement, Compaq's Services Division will add the Entrust family of PKI security solutions to the group of products for which it provides e-commerce services. As part of its next generation networks initiative announced last week, Compaq will also offer systems integration and consulting services for Entrust's security solutions and resell these solutions to its network of services customers.

"As companies prepare for the new Internet-enables business environment, security becomes an increasingly important element of their next generation network infrastructures, which we can implement for enterprises around the world," says Patrick Smyth, vice president, Internet and Network Infrastructure Marketing, Compaq Services.

Richardson, Texas,-based Entrust Technologies' PKI technology combines encryption and digital signature capabilities with automated key and certificate management to allow enterprises to manage trusted, secure electronic communications and transactions over advanced networks, including the Internet, extranets and intranets. The announcement comes on the heel of Entrusts prior announcement today that Lucent Technologies Inc. (www.lucent.com) will license Entrust's technologies to secure Virtual Private Networks (VPN). -- Brian Ploskina, Assistant Editor
