HP Offers Management Solution to Server OEMs

Hewlett-Packard Co. knows that increasing server uptime is a critical issue. And with a focus on the importance of preventative maintenance in achieving the smooth operation of mission-critical systems, the company is offering its HP Remote Management Card (RMC) to manufacturers of PC-based servers.
The remote monitoring system, which is Web-ready, provides network administrators with secure access to their servers for troubleshooting and administration, no matter what the condition of the system.
Hewlett-Packard officials say OEMs will be able to bring their servers to market quicker by adopting HP RMC, compared with developing their own remote management capabilities. Trying to convince manufacturers of the benefit of adding this card, HP operatives say adding HP RMC will reduce warrant costs and give manufacturers more time to develop other differentiators for their servers.
The remote management card is designed to work with any Intel-based server, be compatible with Intelligent Platform Management Interface servers and be easily integrated into an Intelligent Chassis Management Bus.
Hewlett-Packard’s built-in monitoring and management solution has a browser interface that allows system administration from a remote location, irrespective of the state of the system; supervisory CPUs that can test memory online without degrading a server’s performance; and additional preventative and monitoring features that promote uptime.
HP RMC is available immediately. Price depends on the number ordered. -- Matt McCann
