Microsoft Official Curriculum can help you get skills now for putting Windows 2000 to work.
How are you planning to get the specific skills and knowledge
you need to put the Windows 2000 operating system to work
for your colleagues and clients? One of the best ways
is with the Microsoft Official Curriculum (MOC), designed
specifically to help you gain expertise with Windows 2000.
MOC is an instructor-led, hands-on technical curriculum
that develops your skills to deploy, support, and administer
Windows 2000. There’s also a curriculum offering to develop
MCPs as Enterprise Architects to prepare them to roll
out Windows 2000 in an enterprise environment.
MOC for Windows 2000 covers both Windows 2000 Professional
and Server. It’s developed by Microsoft and is available
starting in July at more than 1,900 Microsoft Certified
Technical Education Centers worldwide.
For IT Pros New to Windows
The cornerstone of our track for IT professionals new
to Windows is Course 1556: Administering Microsoft Windows
2000. This course teaches the nuts and bolts of daily
Windows administration, including managing user accounts,
data storage, and backups. Microsoft recommends that “graduates”
of 1556 take Course 1557: Installing and Configuring Microsoft
Windows 2000, a course that develops the skills to install
and configure Windows 2000 Professional and Windows 2000
Server and to support the Active Directory in Windows
2000. The last of the courses is Course 1558: Advanced
Administration for Microsoft Windows 2000. This course
builds on the knowledge gained from the previous courses
to enable you to manage large groups of users and computers
in a multi-domain environment.
For Experienced NT Professionals
For MCPs already experienced with Windows NT 4.0, Microsoft
offers Course 1560: Updating Support Skills from Microsoft
Windows NT to Microsoft Windows 2000. This course will
get you up to speed quickly on the product and will prepare
you to deploy and support Windows 2000. Course 1560 also
lays the foundation for MCPs who wish to grow their skill
set as Enterprise Architects.
Enterprise Architects
As Microsoft gets ready to deliver Windows 2000 to enterprise
customers, developing MCPs into Enterprise Architects
who will plan the rollout of Windows 2000 in an enterprise
environment becomes very important. The following curriculum
is aimed at developing the skill set of the Enterprise
Architect: Course 1561: Designing a Microsoft Windows
2000 Directory Services Infrastructure prepares you to
plan and implement directory services in an enterprise
environment. Course 1562: Designing a Microsoft Windows
2000 Networking Services Infrastructure prepares you to
roll out Windows 2000 to an enterprise network. Course
1563: Designing a Change and Configuration Management
Infrastructure for Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional
prepares you to roll out Windows 2000 Professional, and
shows you how to automate installations and manage computers
and users with the Group Policy feature in Windows 2000.
An accelerated course will also be available that will
leverage key topics from Courses 1560 and 1561 to prepare
you to roll out Windows 2000 and plan and implement Windows
2000 directory services.
