FileScreen Prevents Saving Unwanted File Types

Adhering to the old adage that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, W. Quinn Associates Inc. (
www.wquinn.com) released FileScreen 2000, a program that enables administrators to block end users from saving unwanted file types to Windows NT servers or workstations.
FileScreen scans files by name and file type, and prevents unwanted file types from writing to Windows NT servers and wasting valuable disk space.
Unwanted files usually include MP3 music files, to objectionable graphic images, games or video files. Not only do such files consume valuable disk space and bog down networks with unnecessary backups, they can also put your company at risk of violating piracy laws.
End users, however, technically can rename files with a new file type and save them to NT servers, but they won’t be able to reopen the file after changing the file type. -- Thomas Sullivan
