Cisco Releases New Networking Family

The uBR7200 family's flagship product is the uBR7246VXR Universal Broadband Router. The high-performance CMTS solution is designed specifically for high density needs or those who want processor and higher backplane capacity than the uBR7246. The uBR7246VXR includes an optional Clock Card plug-in that provides synchronization for G.711 connections such as fax and modem connections.

The Dynamic Packet Transport (DPT) for the uBR7246 and uBR7246VXR is a packet-optimized, high-speed optical transport solution consisting of port adapters that allow cable operators to meet increasing demands for bandwidth to support data voice and video services. It enables wide area clustering over backbone access rings and regional transport rings, eliminating expensive layers of legacy transport gear.

The suite also includes the MC16S Spectrum Management card, which offers advanced spectrum management capability to combat excessive ingress noise in the upstream path. If upstream performance becomes degraded, the MC16S Spectrum Management card sends data to the upstream channel with the least interference.

Cisco Cable Manager 1.0 and Troubleshooter 1.0 are parts of the cable network management solution. Cable Manager performs proactive network alarm surveillance, while Troubleshooter is a diagnostic tool. Cable Technology Suite is a software package that works in tandem with Cisco IOS software to increase the reliability of IP services being delivered across the HFC network. DOCSIS 1.0 Plus software provides a set of quality of service (QoS) capabilities based on the DOCSIS 1.1 specification. This software enables operators to tailor cable services to the needs of their subscribers.
