Microsoft President Steve Ballmer Adds CEO to Title
Ballmer takes control of Microsoft, while Gates remains chairman and returns to technology roots as Chief Software Architect.
Bill Gates has officially stepped down as CEO and will assume the role of Chairman, with Steve Ballmer, already President of Microsoft, taking over the reins as Microsoft's newest Chief Executive Officer. According to a press release issued by the company today, Gates is returning to his technology roots as Chief Software Architect, a position tailored for Gates. His chief responsibilities include development of Microsoft's "Internet-based platform of Next Generation Windows Services (NGWS)."
