Server-based computing giant Citrix Systems Inc., which has been branching out into Unix terminals lately, is formally making the jump to Windows 2000. Citrix is shipping MetaFrame 1.8 for Microsoft Windows 2000 Server. A major new feature of the product is a Citrix-developed application portal called Nfuse. Using Nfuse, a company can publish applications running on a MetaFrame server farm to a Web page where users can access the application with a browser. Standard features include Dynamic Load Balancing, encryption of the ICA data stream, installation management services, application publishing, and many-to-one or one-to-many shadowing. Pricing is unchanged from existing MetaFrame 1.8 for TSE pricing. Citrix Subscription Advantage program participants can get a free upgrade.
