IBM Corp. has released its high-speed Netfinity Fibre Array Storage Technology (FAStT) solutions designed to support the large and growing data storage requirements of business-critical applications for ISPs, ASPs, and storage service providers (SSPs).
The solutions consist of several components. The Netfinity FAStT500 Raid Controller Unit is the fibre-to-fibre interface between the Netfinity host and storage devices that offers built-in failover protection and uninterrupted access to data. It supports up to eight channels and eight drive channels to enable configuration flexibility and redundant, highly-available, dual-loop drive storage. The Netfinity FAStT500 Raid Controller Unit offers a data transfer rate of up to 100 MB/sec per controller and a maximum bandwidth of 300 MB/sec per controller.
Netfinity FAStT Host Adapter Card is an intelligent host adapter that is optimized for installation in mid-range and high-end Netfinity servers. It is installed in the host server and connected through optical cable to a Fibre Channel switch. The Netfinity FAStT Host Adapter offers full-Fibre Channel fabric support and IP over Fibre Channel. The EXP500 Storage Expansion Unit is a fully-redundant data storage unit for enterprise, business-critical applications that require high-speed transfer and large amounts of data storage protected by fault-tolerant, high-availability features.
