IBM Ships Windows-Based Terminal

IBM Corp. has begun shipping a Windows-based Terminal thin client device built on Microsoft's WBT Standard 1.5 specification.

The IBM NetVista thin client for Windows-based Terminal (WBT) Standard 1.5 is designed for fast, simple access to Windows-based applications as well as other server-based applications.

The device will provide capabilities including enhanced performance levels and will later be upgraded to include the Internet Explorer browser for Windows-based Terminals. It will also include plug-ins such as Windows Media Player and nFuse via ICA applications launching and embedding (ALE) from Citrix Systems Inc.
