Microsoft: DOS Attack Separate Problem
Short Web site outage adds to internal operational error that brought site down for several hours.
Microsoft has confirmed through a press release that it has been the target of a denial-of-service attack, which has resulted in customers having problems accessing several of its sites. However, Microsoft says this problem is "completely separate from Wednesday's outage," which it called in internal operational error. The DOS attack has added to the problems that Microsoft technicians have been battling in the last few days.
