Cert Group May Add New Titles
Microsoft's Certification and Skills Assessment group plans to announce new tracks for systems administrators and developers.
The Microsoft Certification and Skills Assessment group on Friday released a memo on new tracks for systems administrators and developers, which may be available as early as first quarter 2002.
According to the memo, the new track targets "network administrators, technical support specialists and Web administrators who implement, manage, monitor, and troubleshoot the network and system environment for the Microsoft Windows 2000 and Windows .NET Server platforms," which indicates that it's likely an intermediate track that may provide stepping stones to the MCSE track. The memo only provides scant details and doesn't offer details on whether qualification will consist of completely new exam offering or consist of currently available MCSE exams.
As well, that same memo also provides a rough sketch of a new certification that's aimed at developers who create "software components including complex macros, desktop and Web clients, and data access and business logic objects," but no details on the scope of exams or expertise are included.
Microsoft is expected to make a formal announcement of these tracks during its Microsoft Fusion Conference this weekend in Anaheim, Calif., with more details to follow sometime this fall.
