Serious Custom Controls for Internet Development
PowerTCP aims for enterprise applications.
Dart offers an amazing array of custom controls for Internet development.
Their various tools cover web functionality, FTP, mail, winsock, telnet,
and much more. I took a look at the Web Enterprise tool and their SNMP
tool. Both installed easily (from floppy disks—no bloatware here)
and performed as advertised.
The Web Enterprise tool supports HTTP and HTTPS transfers, and can handle
such tasks as parsing web pages, posting information to secure sites,
retrieving files, and otherwise interacting with web servers. Samples
also demonstrate how these controls can be integrated with SOAP.
The SNMP tool can handle all aspects of SNMP including two-way conversion
of SNMP messages to and from objects that can be easily manipulated in
your code. It includes controls to easily implement SNMP Agent or Manager
functionality in your applications.
An addon, the PowerTCP MIB Serializer, combines large numbers of MIBs
into a single binary file for speed and security. PowerTCP is also updating
all of their tools to work with .NET, and their website already offers
support for .NET RC1.
With samples in VB, VC, Delphi, and other environments, these components
offer a fast way to add Internet functionality to your applications.
