MCP Program Hits 1.5 Million Participants
Latest numbers show MCSE 2003 at 10,013; MCDST at 1,280.
Last week Microsoft released the latest numbers for its Microsoft Certified
Professional program, stating that the program has now bypassed the 1.5
million mark in total participants.
The total number of certifications granted as of July is 2,215,783, up from
2,191,585 in May 2004.
As of July the top title is still the Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) with 958,242
achievers worldwide. (Note: This number does not include MCPs who hold other
titles.) Second is the Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) NT title
with 394,981.
As for newer versions of the MCSE, so far there are 251,284 MCSEs on Windows
2000 and 10,013 on Windows Server 2003. These are up from 246,139 and 6,691
in May, respectively.
The mid-level Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) 2003 is now
at 18,998, up from 13,639 in May. MCSA 2000 has reached 111,697 worldwide, up
from 106,541.
Microsoft's Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA) title has grown to 125,080.
The Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer (MCSD) title is at 45,938.
As for new titles, the Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST)
is now at 1,280 holders worldwide, up from 858 in May. The new MCSE: Messaging
and MCSE: Security specialties are at 3,459 and 3,100, respectively.
