HP’s ProCurve to Ship WAN Routers for SMBs
HP’s ProCurve networking division says it will ship in April its first two WAN routers aimed at SMBs and branch offices, as well as an access control module for its ProCurve 5300xl series switches.
The ProCurve Secure Router 7000dl series provides a “stateful” firewall to block denial of service attacks. It also features access control list (ACL) and virtual local area network (VLAN) support. And besides providing an 802.1x supplicant, the 7000dl series provides optional IPSec VPN termination to let remote users connect via the Internet.
The 7102dl router can support up to four T1/E1 connections and the 7203dl can support up to 12 connections. Both routers include a compact flash port to simplify installation by booting configuration and image files from the flash drive without having to use the command-line interface. Additionally, the routers support a range of standard protocols, including RIP, RIPv2, OSPF, BGP4 and IGMPv2 to support interoperability with legacy and multi-vendor products.
ProCurve is also readying an add-on security module for its 5300xl series of switches.
“Centrally managed from the ProCurve Secure Access Server 740wl, the Access Controller Module frees users from having authentication software on their appliance, moving the functionality to the edge of the network and providing hassle-free access while maintaining a high level of security,” the company said in a statement.
The 7102dl router chassis will cost $1,499, while the 7203dl chassis will cost $2,999. The Switch xl Access Controller Module for the ProCurve 5300xl switch will cost $5,499.
