Applies to the "Design and implement network infrastructure services" objective of Exam 70-413.

Q: A company's IT team is planning to deploy a DHCP failover infrastructure. The team needs to know how to configure failover servers using a shared secret between DHCP failover cluster nodes.

Which of the following is required to configure DHCP failover servers to use a shared secret between DHCP failover cluster nodes?

  1. Set-DhcpServerv4Failover –Name "DHCPMCSDhcp"  -SharedSecret "123"
  2. Get-ClusterResource –Name DHCPMCSDhcp | select OwnerNode
  3. Set-DhcpServerv6Failover –Name "DHCPMCSDhcp"  -SharedSecret "123"
  4. Set-DhcpServerFailover –Name "DHCPMCSDhcp"  -SharedSecret "123"

Answer is A. On the currently active cluster node, type the following command at an elevated Windows PowerShell prompt; Set-DhcpServerv4Failover –Name "DHCPMCSDhcp"  -SharedSecret "123". The name of the cluster in this example is DHCPMCSDhcp and the shared secret is 123.

Quick Tip: DHCP failover is not supported for Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) scopes.
