Microsoft Opens Azure Learning Site for IT Pros

Microsoft this week launched Inside Azure for IT, which contains links to "fireside chats" on various Azure topics, aiming "to solve your real-world IT challenges."

Erin Chapple, Microsoft's corporate vice president for the Azure core infrastructure, announced the new learning site on Monday, adding that it will include a Microsoft "expert series" with live public Q&A segments, plus links to resources.

A schedule of upcoming Inside Azure for IT Q&A sessions with Microsoft Azure product experts is already published in this Microsoft announcement. Topics so far include:

• Azure Virtual Desktop -- July 27
• SAP on Azure and Azure VMware Solution -- Aug. 17

Meeting participants can post their questions in advance of the Q&A sessions.

The first Inside Azure for IT fireside chat is about SAP and VMware on Azure. It's already published and features Chapple interviewing Julia White, SAP's chief marketing and solutions officer and member of SAP SE's executive board.

This fireside chat is notable because White is a 20-year Microsoft veteran, having previously served as corporate vice president of product marketing for Microsoft Azure. White joined SAP back in January. The talk focused on using Azure to host the SAP S/4HANA enterprise resource planning solution.

The SAP and VMware on Azure talk also included a discussion on on-premises to Azure cloud migrations using the Azure VMware Solution, featuring Mark Lohmeyer, VMware's senior vice president and general manager of cloud services.
