Sun plays up the price difference between its StarOffice 6.0 suite and Microsoft Office, while noting interoperability with Microsoft's ubiquitous productivity software. While Sun has raised the price from free, the company still contends that savings over Office licenses start at 75 percent. StarOffice 6.0 hits the market May 21.

Cisco Releases Router for Moving Enterprise Workgroups to SANs

Cisco on Tuesday introduced a storage router for moving Windows-based enterprise workgroups from direct-attached storage to Storage Area Networks (SANs). Study: C# on a Tear

An independent survey shows developers are snapping up Microsoft's C# language. Evans Data Corp. released results of a survey of 800 developers conducted in March and April. According to the research firm, 12 percent of developers were using C# at the time of the survey, up from 7 percent in a similar Evans survey from October.
