Aug. 16 carries lots of historical significance in both technology and music (wholly unrelated, of course). In 1858, Britain's Queen Victoria telegraphed American president James Buchanan, marking the first trans-Atlantic message. Oddly enough, she has a Facebook fan page. In 1977, it's the day Elvis Presley left the building -- permanently.
On Aug. 18, 2005, the BTK killer was captured in part due to Microsoft Word metadata and printer fingerprinting (although this fact isn't confirmed). And on Aug. 19, 2004, Google issued its IPO on NASDAQ.
