Mirapoint Introduces Turnkey Internet Message Routing/Content Filtering Appliance

Mirapoint Inc. today announced the availability of its turnkey Internet message routing and content filtering appliance. The introduction of this device also marks Mirapoint's launch of its new Internet messaging architecture. The router features both message routing and content filtering capabilities.

The Internet Message Router offloads inbound and outbound messages routing from heavily trafficked servers that store e-mail, as well as Internet-based voice mail, faxes, pages, and video. In addition, Mirapoint announced a content filtering initiative that will integrate virus detection, spam prevention and content filtering services with the message router. The router currently features integrated virus detection and blocking technology from Trend Micro.

Mirapoint's new Internet Messaging Architecture will distribute individual messaging functions such as routing, storage, and access across dedicated appliances. It is fully SMTP and MIME compliant, and supports LDAP directory lookups to route messages to the correct e-mail storage server. The router will offer users the ability to transparently "snap-in" new features, and will act as a client access proxy server. The router will be available for shipping in November.
