iPhone This and iPhone That

An incident between a Microsoft manager and a journalist at an event in Germany might be a good indication of the intense rivalry between Microsoft and Apple these days. As The Register reported, a journalist kept talking up the virtues of the iPhone, and the unidentified Softie told the journo to not mention the Apple product ever, doing so in a most serious tone.

Makes me wonder how many of you out there are using an iPhone to read this site, and how many are using a WinMo-based phone (any version will do)? Take my poll here. And do leave some feedback.

Nov. 2008 I finally caved in. After a few months of scoffing at the iPhone, knowing there was nothing my WinMo phone couldn't do the iPhone could, there I was with my new housekeeper. She is a very nice older lady, a great grandmother. She and I finished the first walkthrough and she's making sure she has my information in her phone. She put it away in her bag and says, "oh, let me get your pic". In as much time as it takes me to type this sentence, she already had my pic saved to the contact and put the phone away. I was dumbfounded at how fast this little old lady had just taken my pic and saved it. I knew right then I had to try the iPhone. I knew my phone would've still been launching the camera in the time it took her to be finished. I tip my hat to Microsoft for providing everything to allow me to make a living, but the iPhone is a game changer. I sync beautifully with two Exchange servers, one via the Exchange wizard on the iPhone, the other configured with IMAP. My music, the apps, I no longer travel with a laptop! Need network support? I have a VPN app for crunch times. The iPhone's user interface is what I think sets it apart... the interface, including the speed at which it is able to open and close its programs. That being said, I give Apple the nod on the mobile phone, but I still don't like their computers, go figure. I'm a Microsoft guy in all aspects, except the mobile phone.

After waiting month after month for WinMo 7 as a winmo diehard I switched to an iPhone and it turns out that I'm now an iPhone diehard.

I have a Samsung Epix, OK phone except AT&T (NO bars in more places)sent it out knowing it needed a firmware update. My wife has an iPhone so I have been able to compare ease of use side by side and as bad as I hate to say this, the iPhone makes my Epix feel like a piece of junk. Of course it has apps that I would never use but just the "usability" of the phone is very good.

Using my Samsung Omnia II with Windows Phone 6.5 running touchwiz. iPhone lovers have commented on this phone and were jealous of the camera and multi-tasking.....

My Windows Based Touch Pro2 works very well for me. After trying many new phones on the market, including the iPhone, it was a easy choice in picking the Windows based Touch Pro2.
