Mission Critical to Centralize NT Administration in Heterogeneous Networks

Mission Critical Software Inc. (Houston, www.missioncritical.com) announced that it will integrate Tivoli Enterprise Software from Tivoli Systems Inc. (Austin, Texas, www.tivoli.com) into Enterprise Administrator (EA), Mission Critical’s network management software.

"As customers deploy Windows NT networks along side existing enterprise systems, they are demanding integrated solutions for tying Windows NT administration into their overall systems management strategy," says Tom Bernhardt, CTO, Mission Critical.

The combination of the products will centralize administration of Windows NT networks within heterogeneous networks. Network management will be accomplished through a single interface for monitoring account, group and resource event information from both Windows NT and legacy systems. Administrators will be able to run reports and audit Windows NT administrative accounts using the Tivoli Enterprise Console. The companies claim that the integration of the products also will enhance security and lower TCO.

"The ability to centralize the administration of Windows NT-based networks in heterogeneous computing environments is a key requirement for increasing security and lowering total cost of ownership," says Chris Christiansen, program director, Internet Security, International Data Corp. (Framingham, Mass.). – Thomas Sullivan, Staff Reporter/Reviews Editor
