Microsoft Names New VP of Windows Development

Microsoft Corp. announced the promotion of Brian Valentine to vice president of Windows development. Valentine manages the design and development of Windows 2000 and associated products such as Proxy Server and Systems Management Server. Valentine, who has been with Microsoft for 11 years, reports to Jim Allchin, senior vice president of the personal and business systems group.

Before managing the Windows group, Valentine managed the server applications division and has also been responsible for the Exchange product unit for seven years, which developed and marketed Microsoft Mail 3.0.

Before joining Microsoft, Valentine was a project leader at Intel Corp. He holds a bachelor's degree in computer science from Eastern Washington University. --Michele Rosen, Staff Reporter, New York Correspondent
