Microsoft Corp. and a dozen partners have packaged an all-in-one solution to help medium to large enterprises put their business on the Web.
With Compaq Computer Corp., Intel Corp. and 10 commerce-hosting service providers, Microsoft Tuesday announced the solution called Complete Commerce. The service includes consulting, Web development, hosting services, entire order processing and delivery for operations where in-house services aren’t available.
The platform for the solution is Windows NT Server on Compaq ProLiant servers with Intel Pentium II and Pentium II Xeon processors. The solution is designed to allow customers to host, manage, monitor, analyze and conduct transactions over electronic commerce sites.
An integrated toolkit for service providers includes Microsoft Site Server Commerce Edition. Training materials help service providers integrate Cybercash software for payment processing, TanData for shipping and Taxware International for tax calculation.
Thomas Koll, vice president of Microsoft’s Internet customer unit, says the service providers will act as "single contact points for integrated hardware, software and services."
The current roster of service providers for Complete Commerce consists of American Information Systems Inc., Concentric Network Corp., Data Return Corp., Digex Inc., GTE Internetworking, Icon CMT Corp., MCI WorldCom Advanced Networks, Northwest Nexus Inc., USinternetworking Inc. and USWeb/CKS. Microsoft is seeking more service providers for the solution. -- Scott Bekker, Staff Reporter
