Mylex Corp. (
www.mylex.com) announced Web Array Manager, a Java-based enterprise RAID management application that allows network managers to monitor, tune and configure their network storage from a Web browser. The product will come standard with all Mylex controllers.
Web Array Manager allows administrators to remotely manage several aspects of their enterprise RAID systems, including RAID configuration, controller performance and I/O bottlenecks. The software also supports numerous high-availability features, including online RAID capacity expansion, level migration, failover/failback, PCI Hot Plug, drive cloning, reliable messaging and remote cluster management. Systems administrators using the Web Array Manager will be able to add unconfigured disks to an existing drive group via the Mylex Online RAID Expansion (MORE) feature set.
Web Array Manager offers several fault management features, including SCSI Enclosure Services (SES) and SCSI Accessed Fault-Tolerant Enclosures (SAF-TE) for enclosure management support, and for drive, fan and power supply condition monitoring. The software also offers Self Monitoring Analysis and Reporting Technology (SMART) support for predictive drive failure reporting. It provides user-definable event priorities for notifications via pager, e-mail or fax, and statistical views for real-time analysis of storage system operation so bottlenecks can be reduced.
Mylex's Web Array Manager is expected to ship Q3 of this year through the company's regular sales channels, and it will be available on the Windows 9.x/NT, NetWare and most Unix flavors. -- Brian Ploskina, Assistant Editor
