Microsoft Corp. today announced the availability of Windows NT 4.0 Terminal Server Edition Service Pack 4. The promised service pack includes all updates and enhancements released for Terminal Server to date.
"Service Pack 4 for Terminal Server provides software updates for all known Y2K issues and important bug fixes as well as support for the euro," says Solveig Whittle, lead product manager at Microsoft.
Whittle says that the new enhancements to application development, security and application services add value to Terminal Server.
Service Pack 4, for instance, contains several features that boost security. The new Security Configuration Manager lets administrators define, apply and inspect security configurations. Administrators also gain greater control over security event logs, and the service pack improves the security of communications between workstations and domain controllers.
New management enhancements help administrators control the size of user profiles and monitor the reliability and availability of Terminal Server.
The service pack also has new application programming interfaces that expand applications development and networking enhancements, improve security and boost data transfer speeds.
Additionally, a new service pack for Internet Explorer 4.0 is included. – Thomas Sullivan, Senior Reporter/Northwest Correspondent
