DataCore Acquires RT-Ware

A small Storage Area Network (SAN) management company, DataCore Software Corp. (www.datacoresoftware.com), got bigger today when it acquired RT-Ware, an even smaller 7-year-old company that develops ContolCalc, a Windows NT/2000-based software environment that enables the development of management GUIs for high-speed data storage networks.

DataCore develops Windows NT-based storage network software called Storage Domain Server that enables SAN technologies to meet larger demands. With the acquisition of RT-Ware, and the integration of its GUI to the Storage Domain Server, DataCore hopes to compete with the likes of storage behemoths Data General Corp., EMC Corp., IBM Corp. and Veritas Software.

"RT-Ware provides the software and ease-of-use graphical tools to simplify and reduce the cost of storage management," said DataCore CEO George Teixeira in today in a company release. "The acquisition of RT-Ware puts the industry on notice that DataCore is prepared to develop internal software and to acquire critical advanced technologies that this explosive market demands." -- Brian Ploskina
