NT 4.0 SP 6 To Debut

Microsoft Corp. will release a beta of Service Pack 6 (SP6) for Windows NT 4.0 this week.

The latest service pack is not a required upgrade for Y2K compliance. Similar to SP 5, SP 6 will be a cumulative roll up of all fixes for known customer issues, but no new Y2K fixes are currently included. If new issues are found before the release of SP6, they will be included in the SP6 release and will also be made available for SP4 and SP5.

As with SP 5, Microsoft recommends that customers investigate the SP 6 documentation when it is released, and then determine whether to deploy the service pack. --Thomas Sullivan
