Tally Introduces External Print Server

Tally Printer Corp., a manufacturer of commercial-grade printers, announced the release of the company's first external print server, TallyCom+. TallyCom+ is able to deliver 10baseT or 100baseT Ethernet speed and performance.
TallyCom+ is equipped with Plug 'n' Print technology, a Tally trademark and strategy behind TallyCom+. Users insert the device into the parallel port of the printer, connect to the network and power on. The printer then automatically prints a page of instructions that guide the user to the printer's built-in Web page, viewable with any standard browser. The Web page contains instructions, support and frequently asked questions to assist the user in setting up TallyCom+.
As an external print server, TallyCom+ is part of the network, not the printer. The use of an external print server holds advantages of cost and convenience over built-in print servers. In a mixed printer environment, they provide a common interface for the user, reducing the need for familiarization of multiple devices. This ultimately reduces installation costs, as well as the cost of servicing and monitoring busy networks. Long-term costs are further reduced because there is no longer a need to purchase a new print server when the printer is replaced.
