Esker has announced the release of Faxgate for NT version 6.0. The new version of Faxgate is empowered for integration with e-mail and offers fax services remotely through a thin-client. Faxgate 6.0 provides support for Microsoft Office 2000 applications, enhanced client software functionality, improved host links, and is certified for use with SAP.
Faxgate 6.0 supports Esker LanFax Manager for Citrix, a solution for enterprises that have implemented a Citrix MetaFrame or Microsoft Terminal Server application server environment. Using Faxgate 6.0 and the Esker LanFax Manager for Citrix, an enterprise can deploy a centrally administered Faxgate server with a thin fax client.
Faxgate's Lotus Notes connector has been improved in version 6.0 to provide tighter integration with the Lotus Notes user database. Through the connector, Faxgate now integrates directly with the Lotus Notes user database, eliminating the need to import data to it from the Faxgate user database and allowing the Faxgate administrator to configure users centrally.
Faxgate's SMTP connector has been enhanced to process messages from faxing that are Uuencoded, providing additional support for newer SMTP Unix mail systems. The Microsoft Exchange connector in Faxgate 6.0 now has the ability to configure incoming fax messages into the type supported by Octel's Unified Messenger. Faxgate 6.0 also natively supports Xerox's Metacode, extending its role as a production fax server.
Several enhancements to Faxgate's client software, LanFax Manager, include a direct fax forward feature that allows a Faxgate user to forward a received fax directly to any user listed in the Faxgate user database. A new ODBC link makes possible the import of phone book entries from other ODBC-compliant phone books into the LanFax Manager client. TCP/IP support has been added to the LanFax Manager to imporve connectivity to the Faxgate server in enterprise environments with routers and hubs that do not allow NetBEUI packets on the network.
Faxgate 6.0 now supports the standalone Faxgate Outlook client that allows users to send and receive faxes from Outlook without installing the Faxgate Exchange connector. This client allows users to send and receive faxes through e-mail without having to add a new application to support Faxgate to the Microsoft Exchange server.
Faxgate for NT version 6.0 is currently available.
