TCP/IP, IIS 4.0, and Win95 Exams To Face Retirement

Microsoft plans to retire three popular exams at the end of next year.

(This article was corrected on Dec. 15, 1999, showing the addition of a retirement date, and a change to the date for taking replacement exams.)

Microsoft plans to put to pasture three of its most popular elective exams under the NT 4.0-MCSE track on December 31, 2000:

  • 70-059: TCP/IP on NT 4.0
  • 70-064: Windows 95
  • 70-087: Internet Information Server 4.0

To maintain your MCSE certification, you must take any elective exam not facing retirement by December 31, 2001, as stated on the Microsoft Web site (see exam retirement details at http://www.microsoft.com/mcp/examinfo/retired.htm. However, be aware that exams not facing retirement today under the NT 4.0-MCSE track may fall under the retirement umbrella in the coming months.

Information on the Win2K-MCSE track can be found at http://www.microsoft.com/mcp/certstep/mcse.htm#w2k.
