Picazo Ships Beta-Version Telephony Server

Picazo Communications Inc., a provider of server-based telephony solutions, began beta shipments of VoiceMedia 2000, a Windows 2000-based telecommunications server. The server supports interfaces such as telephony application program interface (TAPI), Messaging Application Program Interface (MAPI), and Speech Application Program Interface (SAPI), as well as an open architecture scalable to thousands of users.

VoiceMedia 2000 is configured on a Compaq Proliant 1600R server and Microsoft Windows 2000 operating system. It can also act as a snap-in module to the Microsoft Management Console (MMC), which allows for the management of the telephony system along with other computing and networking systems within an IT infrastructure. VoiceMedia 2000 includes full PBX functionality; advanced messaging including visual voice mail, auto attendants, and e-mail and pager notification; LAN-based messaging; automatic call distribution; caller ID features; DP2000 digital display phone; universal dialing, letting the user dial from any Windows application; and least-cost routing, which determines the most cost-efficient manner by which to route calls.
