MGE UPS Systems introduced its Pulsar Esprit Power Cluster family of uninterruptible power supply (UPS) devices.
The units feature a selection of power ratings ranging from 3kVA to 13.5kVA and are designed to protect clusters of three to 15 critical servers with associated peripherals. Users can configure the power systems to provide as much backup time as needed, with options for redundant batteries and chargers, as well as rapid recharging. Users can add modules as necessary.
All models are equipped with a suite of communications capabilities using a new USB interface or a standard RS232 port. The Esprit models incorporate an internal communication protocol with Microsoft's Human Interface Device (HID) protocol, the new standard for devices interfaced with Windows 2000.
The Pulsar Esprit line will incorporate XML Web-based management, using XML tags to perform automatic actions. Users will be able to remotely control and monitor the UPS via the Web with their Web browsers.
The Pulsar Esprit line will include compatibility software for use with Windows 95, 98, NT, and 2000, as well as Novell NetWare, SCO Unix v3.0, SCO Openserver 5.0, and Linux. The products will be available in 5U rackmount or freestanding configurations.
