IBM Corp. announced several new models of its NetVista PC
family. The new family continues IBM’s Edge of Network (EoN) initiative, with
devices designed for fast, high-bandwidth Internet access, easy setup, and
simplified use.
The new NetVista models offer software stability along with
common designs deployed among several different form factors, including
desktop, micro-tower, and mini-tower. With a single platform offered across a
choice of form factors, the NetVista A40 models are designed to eliminate the
need for software requalification.
Several NetVista models include IBM’s embedded-security
chip, providing a layer of security built into the motherboard. In addition,
IBM announced the IBM Backup and Restore program, a software package that helps
users protect critical data and settings by providing automatic backup with
one-button restore capabilities in the event of crashes.
