ENT Magazine's Chris McConnell reports that Microsoft has released beta versions of Visual Studio.NET and .NET Framework to developers. The announcement was made Monday at Comdex in Las Vegas, on the heels of a .NET-laden keynote speech delivered that morning by Bill Gates, Microsoft's chief software architect.
Visual Studio.NET supports XML and SOAP and includes environments for programming the Basic, C++. J++, and FoxPro languages, as well as Web tags. The .NET Framework includes three parts for Web and Web-enabled applications: a Common Language Runtime (CLR), Unified programming classes and Active Server Pages+ (ASP+).
You can download the Visual Studio .NET and .NET Framework betas from http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio.
