Microsoft: ISA in Place Before Official Release

In an effort to show momentum behind its yet-to-be-released enterprise firewall and Web caching product, Microsoft announced that customers have requested 250,000 copies of pre-release code for Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2000.

According to Microsoft, early adopters have requested ISA Server beta code via 50,000 downloads and 200,000 disks. Additionally, more than 20 industry partners have announced add-on products to extend and customize ISA Server to enterprise business needs in content security, access control, reporting, and management tools.

ISA Server is designed to help administrators provide controlled, secure, and fast Internet access for their networks. The multilevel enterprise firewall and a high-performance Web cache to control, secure, and accelerate business on the Internet. ISA will be available in regular and enterprise editions. It is scheduled for release to manufacturing this month. - Isaac Slepner
